How to install an LED neon sign — step by step

Our signs arrive ready to mount, with fixings, power supply and instructions. Most customers install them in under an hour. Here is how.

What you need

  • A drill and bits suited to the wall (concrete, brick or plasterboard)
  • A spirit level and pencil
  • A screwdriver
  • A socket nearby — or an electrician if the cable should be hidden in the wall

Wall mounting in five steps

  1. Choose the spot. Hold up the sign (or a paper template) and check the cable reaches the socket.
  2. Mark the holes through the holes in the acrylic panel. Use the spirit level.
  3. Drill and insert wall plugs suited to the wall material.
  4. Screw on the stand-offs so the sign sits slightly off the wall — a neat “floating” effect.
  5. Connect the power supply and dimmer, if any. Done!

Hanging kit

Ideal for shop windows, ceilings and spaces where you do not want to drill the wall. Fix the wires to the ceiling, adjust the height and lock the sign into the pre-drilled holes.

Outdoors

Outdoor signs are built to IP65. The power supply must be sheltered or rated for outdoor use, and a permanent facade installation should be done by a qualified electrician. Remember to check whether you need a sign permit.

Safety

  • LED neon runs on low voltage and barely warms up.
  • Only use the supplied CE-marked power supply.
  • Do not cover the power supply — it needs air.

Care

Wipe off dust with a soft, dry cloth while the sign is switched off. Do not use strong cleaning agents on the acrylic. That is it — LED neon needs no other servicing.
